Solutions - What Your Vehicle May Need
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are always happy to help any way we can.
Troubleshooting:
One bulb no longer lights up or never worked at all.
Most commonly this is a loose connection. Please check all connections. If using a battery harness please make sure it is grounded to a good ground (directly to the battery or a proper grounding post in the engine bay is preferable. If nothing improves please review the diagnoses below.
Diagnoses: This can occur if a bulb or ballast has an issue. Please swap your bulbs from side to side and then your ballasts to diagnose whether it is a bulb or ballast causing this issue before contacting us for a warranty replacement claim. If you are using any harnesses please diagnose as necessary to isolate whether those are causing the issue.
Another cause of this may be that the car requires a harness of some sort. Please review our questions below and the list of cars that possibly need a harness.
Both bulbs
aren't lighting up after connecting everything and testing the lights out. (Common issue)
This is usually a problem reversed polarity of the OEM wiring where it connects to the HID kit. HID kits, unlike halogen bulbs, care about the polarity between positive and negative. This applies to both single beam kits and dual beam hi/lo kits. Simply reverse the oritentation of the wiring within the OEM connectors and this should solve it. In some cases you can simply plug in the wires in a reversed manner or flip the connector upside down. In the hi/lo kits you will need to match the wires such that when you have Low Beams on your kit lights up and when you enable the high beams they come on as they should. The ground will always need to connect to ground.
On some vehicles the lights may not light up at all if a harness is required. We have only found a few vehicles to suffer this symtom such as the Audi A5/S5 fog lights.
I have
finished the installation and the lights are flickering when they first
turn on. Is this normal? (Common on some vehicles requiring a harness)
Some flickering is normal during start up of the bulbs. If they do it
for more than a few seconds or so there may be a problem with a bulb or
ballast. Some ways to narrow this down is to switch the ballasts around
from one side of the car to the other. The car's computer may also be
interferrring and causing this to happen. You may require our bulb out
warning harness or battery harness or both. (See our list below or contact us)
I have
finished installing the kit and when I go to turn the lights on they turn
on for a moment and then shut off. (Common on some vehicles requiring a harness)
This is most common on newer cars. The lights are monitored by the on
board computer system and because HIDs start up differently and use a lot less power than halogen
bulbs the computer can see this as a problem. You may also be getting
a bulb out warning on your dash due to this problem. One fix is to use
our bulb out warning harness or and/or out battery harness. Some cars
require both. (See our list below or contact us)
I have
finished installing the kit but one bulb seems to be a different colour
than the other. (Rare problem)
This should not be the case and could be a candidate for warranty replacement. Please swap your bulbs from side to side to confirm whether it is a ballast or bulb causing this issue. Once discovered please contact us to apply for an RMA form.
Vehicle Specific Solutions:
Below is a list of vehicles we have had experience with showing solutions commonly needed if you have trouble using an HID kit with the vehicle. Please note that any vehicle not listed here may still require a harness or have an issue we are unaware of. This list is NOT complete by any means. Merely use it for reference. If you know of a solution we don't have listed here please
contact us and let us add it here.
