VW VR6 10000K HIDs Hi/Lo Beam Problem
I installed a hi/lo beam HID kit on my jetta I put a relay on it
and the low beams work fine I am just not able to switch up to
the high beams… My headlight indicator on the dash is lit up all
the time when I have my lights on and when I go to pull the headlight
switch back like your going to flash someone who has there high beams
on the high beams work,. but when I go to normally put the high beams on
they don’t work… I have been told that I need to put in a resitor so that
the head light can recieve the correct amount of power and if so can you
please tell me what size resistor and where I should put it in the circuit..
thanks…

It sounds like you may have some wires reverse. This has been a common problem on the Jettas for some reason. Basically the connector on the HID wiring doesn’t match the OEM wiring and thus the high beam, low beam, or neutral wire are not connecting to the appropriate wire once connected. I have success with the Jettas I have helped solve this issue. You will simply need to pull out the wires and try them in different combinations.
Ok so the only wires that I can think of that could be crossed because all of the other wires are plug and play and so you can’t install them any other way.. would be the pos. neg. wires that run from the relay to the ballast which can be switched… But other then that I dunno, I tried to switch them and they are right… the only way it works is if they are both put in correct aka pos. on pos terminal and neg. on neg terminal..
I was also wondering if having my grounds to each side of the headlights grounded to the chasis would make a difference and what if I put in a higher fuse I have a 30amp in it right now.. Just curious please let me know if you have any suggestions.. thanks..
The connector that from the OEM wiring to the HID wiring has three wires in it. These are the ones that are reversed. This appears to be fairly common on VWs and you will just need to try different combinations to see which one works.
Alright thanks alot for your insight on this issue.. I will def. try it and am sure I will be successful thanks again…
