Update on the new Bulb Out Warning Decoders

Published by SharpHID at 7:24 pm under BMW, General HIDs, Mercedes, Volvo

We have been experiencing great success with our new Bulb Out Warning Decoders (BOW Harness).  Out of 12 various new Volvos we have had 10 of them work flawlessly with the addition of this new harness.  Most vehicles required both the battery wiring harness and the new BOW harness and a few have been working with just the BOW harness.  We are still receiving feedback and I will keep you all up-to-date here on the blog.  We are unsure as to why there are a few cars that are just not working with this new fix but it is definitely an improvement over the previous edition.

We continue to find on the new Volvos that turning off the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) has no effect on fixing any of the issues.

We have also had huge success in Mercedes and BMWs with the BOW harness.  To-date we have had zero issues with either make of car when they use this harness.

For my Volvo S40, bought in Europe in the year 2005 BOW harness simply doesn’t work.

We have seen the BOW harness work on other 2005 models. Unfortunately unknown to anyone some newer Volvos still have issues.

Want to get a HID kit for my ‘06 Volvo XC90. Heard differing outcomes, some with BOW, others not. Will using a 55W kit be LESS likely to trigger the BOW compared to a 35W kit?

Also, I assume using BOTH the wiring harness (relay/fuse/direct power) AND the BOW Kit will both lower my chances of triggering BOW, correct?

    thanks

The 55w kit along with the bulb out cancelers is now what I recommend for all the newer Volvos as it is more likely to work without any issues at all. The 35w kit with the harness can still sometimes cause a bulb out message to display on the dash. The battery harness is not needed and will in fact usually cause issues if installed.
